Hi, I have a left side DRL dim on my 2017 Audi A3, the right side is perfectly fine. The car was registered 2017, and the law states that only DRLs are used in an MOT from 2018, does this mean my car will still pass, as the DRL is not compulsory until 2018?

Many thanks

I think you've answered your own question unless I'm missing something.

There's an 'ask an MOT tester' thread somewhere

DRLs are only testable on vehicles first registered on or after 1st March 2018. You may get an advisory for it but it won't fail.

Can’t you just replace the bulb?

You used to be able to. However, if it's a modern Audi, maybe good luck with that!!

My last audi: replacing the headlight bulbs. The easiest way is bumper off, on a ramp. I did it the harder way - filter housing etc off, undo brake servo, move fluid reservoir, lose skin on forarms, swear a lot.

Modern cars: not designed for maintainance!

Does seem ridiculous on some cars. The Skoda Octavia (same as an Audi underneath) it takes 5 minutes to change a headlamp bulb, or adjust for foreign driving.
