Surely the answer to this is 2 or 3 strikes and the car privilege is removed confused

Seems the best way assuming asking him to park responsibly isn't working and removing driving privileges isn't an option.

It does seem the obvious solution.

My son learnt to always check for ANPR cameras and parking notices in car parks after using the free (for 90 minutes) Lidl car park when he went to the gym (pay & display). Three £60 fines in three days did the trick.

If he can’t afford the fines, they are easy to avoid. Driving is a privilege for adults - he needs to act like one

Sounds like you need to teach him a lesson.

Yes.
Your behaviour will encourage more of the same from the son. Get his arse kicked and give him the short sharp lesson he needs. Pass his details to the solicitor for starters.

You know the answer OP

get rid of the car

If you just put the car in his name, I bet the fines will just build in his name until tipping point is reached and bailiffs come knocking.

I am the owner and keeper of a car that’s solely used by my son. I’m now sick of paying his parking fines that arrive in my name, being the registered keeper. The latest is a court claim form from Glastones Solicitors on behalf of ESP Parking Enforcement in Preston, for a parking violation he performed in August, when I was at Salon Prive at Blenheim. Is it enough for me to prove I couldn’t be responsible for the parking as I was 200 miles away, or still my responsibility to pay as I’m the keeper? Before you all tell me to get my lad to pay, you can’t something from where there isn’t anything!
Tempting as it is to offer parenting advice, I don't know your circumstances, but it does seem a bad situation for both of you.
No one has answered your question

IANAL, but I believe you are not responsible for these charges. If they are private charges then they result from a contract between your son and another party - you are lot responsible.
If they are genuine fines from a body that has the authority to do such a thing, they are for the driver who committed the offense.

Can we assume that when the original parking fine dropped on your doormat back in August you just chose to ignore it?

I think parking fines are down to the registered keeper.

A few lessons!

Lesson one the value of money which he should have been taught from a young age. Get him to pay them all and he will soon learn.

Oh and take the silver spoon out of his mouth.

Son needs to pay his own parking fines, and probably his own insurance as well... :cough: fronting :cough:

He needs to pay his fines. He needs to learn there are consequences to his actions. If not now, it will be something more serious in the future.

Are you fronting his insurance too?

Would that be illegal? (especially after admitting the son is the sole driver)
