My wife was caught by one of the new (for here) forward and rear facing cameras.
Just out of interest I looked at the photo from the camera and there is some anomaly with the registration number shown.
Her registration number is GY08 VAJ ( no comments please).
The photo shows this....

It is just inside the limit for a course and would be £100 probably, is it worth it financially just paying it or should we put up a fight.

Whether it's worth fighting, is down to whether she committed the offence.

Am I missing something here. If the registration number on the ticket is wrong how did they trace/send it to her?

It could be just a reduction in the photo quality on what you got sent. If they couldnt read the number plate, you wouldnt have got the ticket?

Yes fight it, make it your hill to die on.

Or

Just ask your wife to take responsibility for her actions.

I can see the dilemma

Oh I have give her a lot of stick over it.

We were confused about it, yes they sent the NIP to the registered keeper and if she was speeding she was speeding but if their evidence (the dodgy photo) is flawed then it is just wrong.

The photo is just a low pixelated copy. The original will have your number plate on it, as thats how you received the NIP.

Well the evidence clearly isn't flawed if she (the RK) received the notification correctly addressed, so it isn't wrong, pay up time.

Always worth fighting and plenty of avenues to pursue. Perhaps the nanny had borrowed the car but has since returned to Poland and you can no longer contact her...?

Would you be so sanctimonious to all the sub postmaster who were affected by the Horizon scandal.

Postmasters were not caught on camera speeding though?

The reality is there is no IT failure here, they correctly identified the car and the registered owner - as per the NIP that you have received, that is pretty obvious. The picture you have is a copy, its low quality, but you know its your wifes car and you know your wife was caught speeding.

Suck it up, pay the cost of the course, wife will learn a few things about road safety along the way as a bonus.

1. I suspect you will find it was sarcasm not sanctimonious.

2. Sub-post masters were hounded due to an IT system failure, your wife clearly wasn't, so 100% irrelevant.

Just how pixellated, blurred and unreadable do you think the original image is that the camera actually took of the offence?

I'm guessing the 'photo' is a single still from a video stream.
The video will have enough information in it to identify the reg, which is how they sent the paperwork out.
Or maybe the numbers are machine read in real time and they just take a few pictures as a check.

Firstly is it your car and was it being driven where the offence occurred at the time of the offence. If so it's unlikely to be cloned or a similar car.

If in doubt ask for a better image, or to view the video.
