Cypriot traffic violation
Discussion
Sod's Law isn't it.
Last day of the holiday, in Nicosia and following Google maps suggestion turn into a side road unbeknownst to me that you are only permitted to turn into from the opposite direction.
Queue three Stavros' jumping out from behind a bush to nab me there and then with a €100 fine.
Would you file this in the recycling? I have 14 days to cough up.

Depends if you wanna go back one day or not.
Depends on if you really think border control in Cyprus will have a file waiting for your return , for a 100 euro traffic ticket ...................
Seen it happen more than once at Pafos Airport.
Ahhh you lovely, lovely people. :-)
Man makes innocent mistake abroad, confused by local signage, get slapped with a 100 Euro fine, and you are all, "bloody tightwad, your fault, you can afford to go on holiday abroad, rich man, PAY UP!".
Bugger me backwards. This forum can be a real strange collection sometimes :-)

To be honest, I think the people who would avoid paying that are the strange ones.Man makes innocent mistake abroad, confused by local signage, get slapped with a 100 Euro fine, and you are all, "bloody tightwad, your fault, you can afford to go on holiday abroad, rich man, PAY UP!".

It was an innocent mistake - it could easily have happened to any of us. It doesn't change the fact that he made an illegal turn, and got fined as a result.
If it was in the UK, I guess he'd accept he was bang to rights. There have been a surprising number of posts on PH over recent months which are basically : Yeah, <this> happened, I got fined, but I think I might be able to get away without paying.
PH isn't a great lesson on morality.

Put me down as immoral then. If I think I can get away with one here or abroad that’s what I’m gonna do.It was an innocent mistake - it could easily have happened to any of us. It doesn't change the fact that he made an illegal turn, and got fined as a result.

I suspect I’m in a majority with that view.
