He is just refusing to work on as I have hurt his feelings as I called him out on pushing me to the back of the que to do work for others. It literally needs 2 days on it. Suspension set up, throttle body balance and a MOT. You could argue it's a days work.
I was going to ask about the timeframes, because 6 months for any kind of work on a car is exceptional. But since you didn't give any details (other than saying its chassis refurbishment) I didn't make it part of the issue. I haven't seen a chassis on a car for a long time. My truck has a chassis, but its a fairly simple thing and I can refurbish that myself in a reasonable time. I don't know if I want to get involved in a rabbit hole of "how long does x take" when we don't know what "x" is.If the job was going to take 1-2 days, it seems incredible you'd accept 6 months as a timeframe.
I'd need more details before making any further comment on that aspect, I think. But I think your dispute does revolve about managing expectations and reasonable timeframe for the job.
I was just saying that, if a tradesman or business is physically not allowed to do the work, they can't be held liable for the job. And I'd imagine chassis refurbishment is something where you'd need to do a complete job or not.

It was a body off chassis restoration, quoted 6 months . The 1 to 2 days is what it needs to be finished
Is the chassis restoration complete?I assume so, as you've said it only needs
"Suspension set up, throttle body balance and a MOT"
Does he agree with your assessment that this is all the work remaining?
If so, I can't see how he can refuse to warrant work which is complete (i.e the chassis work)
If not, it's more complicated as you stopped the work.

Yes it's complete, just needs a shakedown, set up and mot. This is what they have told me is left to do. I had the interior retrimmed in February / March. The car has been back with the garage for 2 weeks and they have done nothing to it. Shoved up the corner getting knocked about, do you understand my frustration I assume so, as you've said it only needs

When you chased completion initially, before it all "got a bit heated", what was their timeline?

So if has been there 2 weeks not 18 months. I think you need to be far clearer as to what is going on.

He gave me a date of the 12th of April, then that changed to the 25th of April. When you chased completion initially, before it all "got a bit heated", what was their timeline?

Seems like you’ve over-reacted and pissed them off for a small reason tbh
That's where you are wrong, quoted time for completion was July last year. We are now 14 months on, read the story

Because you've asked for the car back....he can't do the (full) job if it isn't there.
I possibly owed £500 for remaining work. So I have paid for most of it. I was paying when work was done to the carSpeed Matters | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
