Contested fixed camera speeding fine

I received a fixed penalty notice from Luxembourg's Police this week.

Not entirely unusual for me as the cameras only permit a 1km/h variance ... oops.
This was 79km/h in a 75 zone. Speeding <20km/h over the limit is a EUR49 fine, zero points impact.

Unusually for this one, though - my car was locked in my garage at the time of the offence.
I WFH 100% and I was on a VC with a guy in Texas!
I replied to Lux Police with a note and printed proof from my calendar.
I also advised them that the road I was supposedly caught on, I know I haven't used since 2004!

Let's see what happens when they respond with the camera's photo proof.
Is it my VW?
Have I lost my mind?!

Car cloned or misread plate. If it's like UK enforcement all pictures are checked by human before being issued. Any system relying on a human could go wrong. Keep us posted.

I got a fine for not paying the ULEZ charge when I knew I hadn’t been in London on the day. I asked for the photograph evidence. My car is the orange BMW, the van’s registration number wasn’t even similar. Just shows how unreliable these automated systems can be.

Could it have been the exact same letters and digits but on a different foreign plate? With no country identifier or sticker, they've assumed it to be a UK plate.
