Lease company is Alphabet.
PPC is Minster Baywatch.
Location is Kingston Centre (a massive Tesco and some other shops etc.) in Milton Keynes.

Ticket issued (via ANPR, not a ticket on the vehicle) for parking in a "staff only" section of a large (free) car park.

Reasonable (although not exactly a slam dunk) grounds for appeal as the restrictions must have recently changed and the website for the location says that all parking is free and there is no staff parking.

Haven't checked for signage yet so don't know if it exists, is clear etc.

The issue is that the lease company have already paid the charge which looks like it's now closed and we can no longer appeal.

Anything that can be done to re-open it?

Seems a bit odd that the lease company has paid it rather than transferring liability?

Nope. Them’s usually the rules you signed up to.

Conclusion...

Alphabet realised their mistake, refunded the charge, and transferred liability.

My wife appealed, which was rejected.
She then contacted Tesco who agreed it was a bit unclear following the recent changes and agreed to appeal/request cancellation.
They then didn't do this for some reason.
The "reduced rate" expired today so my wife paid it, and Tesco have refunded our last shop as an apology.

So we've somehow ended up £40 up from parking in the wrong place! confused

Hpw do you know they didn't?

I ask because the only time this happened to me - in a pub I use quite a bit but had a brain fart and forgot to put my number in the pad - they said they'd cancel it and to forget about it. It still appears on the parking company website and I'm sure they'd cheerfully accept payment, but they've never chased for it.
