Illegal LTN - Council Ordered to Remove it.
Discussion
It's tricky to call I think.
The judge was critical of the process Lambeth followed. They kept away from whether the scheme was "good" or "bad".
So it will be up to other residents groups to prove the council failed in other LTNs.
Note - Dulwich is a wealthy area I recall, whonsummoned up £30k between them quite easily. A few people moaning down the pub won't have anywhere near the same effect.
Also, there are a bunch of residents who support the LTN (better streets Dulwich).
This highlights the political problems the council face as someone is always unhappy.
Still, councils need to do things properly and this should be a wake up call for them around meaningful consultation (rather than the usual: this is what we've decided: do you support it a bit or a lot? And then say everyone supports it to some extent)

Some (not all) of the LTN’s are a nightmare along with some 20 limits, bus gates and other restrictions. Hopefully this might result in more sensible decisions. The judge was critical of the process Lambeth followed. They kept away from whether the scheme was "good" or "bad".

Lambeth really getting a kicking recently, they also lost to another action group just down the road who have appealed against their (over) use of Brockwell Park for festivals - I think they’re a fairly dodgy council as they go.
I live in Dulwich and the LTN made a lot of peoples lives quite difficult though I do think it stopped a lot of rat running, the local garage also hugely against both this LTN and CPZ that is rumoured to be coming in.
Brixton is full of LTN’s - as someone who prefers to cycle locally it has made some streets much more pleasant but the traffic hasn’t reduced as much as it’s just been forced onto the big roads.
The big issue in such parts of London is people doing very short journeys by car, you can’t believe how many people drive their kids to the schools around Dulwich every day (and there are a LOT of schools), I doubt most are covering more than a mile. Makes it total mayhem every morning, and a joy during half term for those of us who live here.
