Hi all,

Any suggestions on how insurers typically approach the above situation? The car has sufficient damage to be written off however the offending driver has left the scene without leaving details and there is nothing to go on.

The vehicle is comprehensively insured so I'd like to think I can make a claim, but as ever it's weighed against potential increase in premiums in future (we're not talking tens of thousands here, closer to shed territory)

Any ideas whether this would be considered an 'at fault' claim despite the car being parked perfectly legally?

Any advice from those who've been through this would be welcome.

Thanks

Yes it is likely to be an at fault claim. What effect the claim will have on future premiums is anyone's guess

A claim on your own policy, you'd need to look at the market value (WBAC etc?) and your excess.

Your contract with your insurer probably requires you to notify them of the event even if you decide not to claim.

It will be a fault claim

Depending on the car / damage it may well be worth either fixing yourself or buying back from the insurer and selling on

Presumably your no claims isn't protected ?

Some you lose a year or two, some worse, Google the Co. to find their policy

You'll also have the excess deducted from any write off value.
