I was just watching Traffic Cops on TV.
There were various cars featured, including Volvo, BMW & Skoda.
I assume the cars arrive in white, but what are the normal methods of 'decoration'? Wrapping? Sign writing?

The later cars I’ve seen from GMP look quite good in darker colours with the decals on.

The battenburg is usually a wrap over a white/blue/silver car.

However I've had marked cars wrapped before to change them from white to other colours when we've converted them from marked to unmarked vehicles.

One of our pool cars is Ex Police, the battenberg was vinyl wrapped along the sides, and the the adhesive wasn't properly removed it's now formed a large line of road grime which won't come off.

Gone are the days of Plod buying 2 Mark 2 Escorts or Morris Minors, one in White and one in Pale blue and swapping the doors over!

They're not wrapped as such, they are decals but very thick ones and they are designed for each cars shape and lines specifically, some cars will have 30-40 pieces as part of the stickering up

The reflective material on emergency vehicles  conforms to chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.  hence we call it chapter 8 reflective, in the trade.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/traffic...

its not really a wrap,  as it doesn't really conform to the shape of a car at all, it will do very shallow curves at most.  which is why you will often see its fitted in panels  with more extreme curves cutaway.

but yes its 'wapped' in a graphics essentally .

Another fun fact is to make the chevrons and battenburg its actually cut in the 2 separate colours the individual panels are then taped together. and fitted.

My experience is with boats but its the same material. as the cars and other vehicles
