Many years ago I saw the same sort of thing happen in Woking. Signs had been up for days about the yellow lines they were going to paint on the road, and that you should not park there that day and forever more.

One driver decided it didn't apply to him or her. Said painters came along pushed the car forward painted the lines then pushed the car back and carried on painting. About 10 mins later a traffic warden turned up and put a ticket on the car.

I must be missing something

- New road marking painted

- Someone did their job and issued a ticket, not knowing that the parking predated the lines (corrected this on edit!)

- Tickets cancelled. (Croydon Council "apologised for the confusion" and confirmed that "the tickets were cancelled a week before the video was uploaded to social media".)

- Social media causes confusion and hate.

Re-title to "Wonders to Facebook keyboard warriors"?

I would say most parking attendants receive abuse daily, it is part of the job, a bit like wanting to be a nurse but not wanting to see blood, ridiculous and a stty effort to move blame away from poor communication by them in the first place

Something similar happened in Milton Keynes years ago, a load of the cheap parking was being changed to premium, the parking charges were 8am-6pm, the signs were changed during the day and loads of people got fines (including me), I got back to my car at 4.30 and knew something was wrong as every car had a ticket, ended up paying the £25 as the bureaucracy machine made it impossible to find anyone with common sense
