Halfords ( Appalling ) Battery Returns Policy
Discussion
Long story short, the circa 10 month old £ 140 quid 5 year guarantee Yuasa that I stupidly bought from Halfrauds is shagged.
Took it back, they tested it and “ Because their tester is unable to diagnose what is wrong with it “ they are refusing to replace or refund me, ffs.
This isn’t the first time Halfrauds have refused to change a faulty battery ( their own shotty brand )
I’m not accepting them fobbing me off, I spend £ lots there each year over many years, any suggestions please ?

Is it definitely, 100% the right spec battery (ignoring their instore app)?
Only I have a Volvo XC60 2014 that does not have start stop.
Most web sites suggest a non stop start battery; however this was a model cross over year and due to some fundamental electronics it does actually need the stop start battery, or it will fry a regular battery in months.
To be fair the Halfords tech wanted to check and double check based on VIN and forums until we agreed it did need the stop start battery.
The local branch is pretty good. I had an Audi A6 3.0tdi where there is VERY little space in front of the engine to change bulbs.
I d always go to Halfords, pay the fitting charge, and then a junior would come to fit them; after 10 mins he d be swearing and get the senior tech who refused to be defeated for 20 mins, despite his grazed knuckles (and yes I gave him a tip as well)

How often does the car get driven? What charging voltage is coming off the alternator? To some extent I can understand Halfords position. Decent batteries, such as Yuasa, don't die that quickly if they're looked after (by the driver and by the vehicle).

My post seems to have disappeared but the reason for the fault is not your problem, the relevant fact is that it has one. Go back and don't get fobbed off again.Took it back, they tested it and Because their tester is unable to diagnose what is wrong with it they are refusing to replace or refund me, ffs.

Are they saying it s a working battery and you re saying it isn t?
If so what s wrong with it?
No ! The battery is shagged, but because their tester machine can t diagnose the fault, ie a dead cell, then it s their policy Not to refund or replace ! If so what s wrong with it?

Go to a different branch. I have returned stuff to Halfords including a battery a year old that failed. They replaced the battery without even testing it . I have taken tools and welding stuff back too, no quibble.
Did they fit the battery or did you ?
Il try another branch, but one of the staff printed off their terms & conditions re their batteries ( Il post it up ) Did they fit the battery or did you ?
Fitted myself.
This seems to be the second listing of this, the first one disappeared?! I'll put the same reply, make an official complaint:

I returned a car cover (torn) and a set of ramps (too narrow) in the last few years and got refunds, no problem,
