No I wasn’t one of them, but interested in the mechanics of how the police stopped & charged 5 in convoy.
Will/would they potentially face additional charges for being in s group?

When I’ve been stopped I’ve been shown my speed on a hand held device, I’d guess they don’t have 5 hand held devices? Does charging 5 require the officer’s opinion they were all travelling at same speed?

i’d have assumed convoy to be a bit spaced out & the following cars reacting to when car one spotted the speed trap (albeit to late for him) & braking, unless they all drive past unaware.
I was up in that area a couple of werks ago with two others in same make cars. The A82 was a basic route with turns off to go to different destinations. It is a good road so decent progress can be made.
However, as it's in Scotland not always a good idea due to deer that can jump out, managing tourist traffic, weather conditions. There were herds of deer in regular spotting locations. Despite the deer fencing there are gaps and it's impressive how high they can leap.
We had decent weather but many deer in the area and a few campervans/lorries ( it links to Ullapool so ferry traffic).
This year traffic was definitely lighter than previous trips done annually.
We tend to drive as a group but no pressure to stay tight or catch up.
Last year there was a group of McClarens ( about 15) using our hotel. They went up to Orkney and local news praised them for their behaviour and the spectacle off seeing a group on the Islands.

Depends what they get charged with. In Scotland 20mph over the limit is often regarded as dangerous driving, which can result in far harsher penalties.Probably lucky they just got 100mph+ summons and no Section 59.

Pedant alert, but it was the A835. And a bloody fantastic road it is too, especially once past Garve and on the way to Ullapool. I set my personal record for most cars overtaken in one go on that road.Probably lucky they just got 100mph+ summons and no Section 59.

I am quite sure it is not automatically dangerous driving at limit +20 in Scotland. I've had a 3 point and £100 fine for 80 in a 60. I was clocked at a moving average of 89 over something like 1/4 of a mile and the officers who stopped me said that north of 86 (in a 60) is the court threshold but they were happy to put 80 on the ticket - I'd been going quickly but it was a very well sighted and very quiet section of road so I think they exercised some discression. A firend got 3 points for 92mph in a 70.That said, north of 100 in Scotland does seem to be treated as dangerous driving and if 86 is still the threshold they go to court in a 60, it may be similar.

The performance car does matter- they can speed up and slow down far more rapidly than yoir humdrum family hatches.
Whilst speeding is always illegal, it is not always unsafe.
I'm not great with dogma -there is enough pragmatist in me to accept a quick nip up to 100 and back to get past something can be done quite safely (in the right circumstances) just as cars can drive dangerously below the limit (in the wrong circumstances).
However, the fact they got caught shows they weren't paying that much attention to things, and the article gives the impression this was more sustained progress by the group rather than an individual just getting caught out on an isolated incident.
I'm west coast, deer are a massive hazard on my regular route of a 2 hour commute towards the city. I'll see or come across multiple every trip, especially early morning or at dusk.
As soon as the sun's out the main route will be shut due to bikers interacting with the scenery, twice this week alone & one was a fatal I think, both had the air ambulance out & road shut for multiple hours, not great when the diversion is an extra 2 plus hours! Nice roads round this way but so many have no clue.

The tortoises reached Ullapool first.
