Just gone through the lights on clay Pitt lane in Leeds, there was a yellow red light camera situated on the junction.

Looking back at the dashcam my bonnet was about level with the start of the crossing (yellow) as the lights went to red, I instantly checked my mirrors looking into the camera for a flash which there wasn t one, although not sure if this camera flashes

-Does this camera flash?

-I m not sure if I ve just about gotten away with this one or just about got caught as the rear of the car would have been on the line still

There would be a delay of ~1 second between the lights showing red and the camera going live.

If the rear of your car was entirely clear of the stop line before this time, you'll be fine.

Had a better look, my bonnet just about came level with the second set of marks for the crossing just before the yellow chevrons as the light turned red, for a small van it looks like it would just about put me over the line, or not..

28mph I went though, ironically I d have been better off a few mph over the speed limit.

Do you have a pic showing where you were when the lights changed from green to amber?

I have just read the highway code , it says you can't cross the red light whatever that actually means.

I could screenshot and post although I don’t see what the need would be, travelling at bang on the speed limit (speedo) in hindsight I could have braked and this thread wouldn’t have existed.

Everyone makes mistakes on the road and this was one of mine

Yeah, makes sense

I do around 50k miles per year, been driving 19 years and up until now no points and no awareness courses, had several minor anxious waits in the post during that time admittedly but nothings ever come, point is I made a mistake, but I’m hardly an idiot on the road

The legal position is that no part of a vehicle may pass beyond the stop line with the red light showing.

The same prohibition applies for the amber only light, except where a vehicle was so close to the stop line that it could not be stopped safely without proceeding beyond the stop line.
