A lad on a local farm has been caught doing 90 on a motorway.

Not trying to get out of it, but he is send a lawyer to court.

He said his lawyer told him that as he owns a farm, the points can be added to "the farm"????????

Not as far as I know, but is it a thing?

What on earth?

If he admitted driving he will take be given the points. If the vehicle is company owned and the company secretary doesn't name a driver, the company is fined. No points can be given to a company.

As I thought.

They have already been named on the form and this letter was for the court date.

Thanks.

No, the farm can get the points. If they farm gets 12 points in 3 years, then it can't keep any animals or grow any crops for 6 months.

"His lawyer" roflroflrofl

I guess this 'lawyer' probably practices very hard at the bar, just not in the legal sense.

Dont you worry, I will update when its been to court.

I just cannot imagine what his lawyer is thinking (if he even did say that, it could be the bloke just bullstting so that we are not surprised when he keeps on driving)

Its pretty clear to me. The driver of the speeding vehicle gets the points etc, no exceptions.

These points that the farm will be getting....where do they go? The farm has no driving licence.

If the Registered Keeper doesn't provide the driver's details then he may become liable for points and a fine.

Sounds very much like a crappy "freeman of the land" nonsense. I wonder if they tried to take a scarecrow onto court and say it was representing blah of the blah family.

IANAL, however if the registered keeper is a business it can be found found guilty of failure to notify and be fined.

Sounds like udder nonsense to me.

Perhaps the lawyer is just milking it to get your friend scare(d)[crow] to justify his fee. I’d be amaized if there’s any truth in it.

That would be a straw man argument.

This lawyer wouldn't belong to Old Macdonald & Partners by any chance?

I can barley believe I'm joining in with these arable jokes, but if the farm gets 12 points then presumably it'll be facing a barn?
