You wanted attention.

It worked, now you've got it.

Perhaps it wasn't the attention you wanted!

Hi guys, so today i was given a call from my brother whilst i was at work that a police officer had come round my house and helped himself to remove my number plate of my car due to the illegal spacing as it was seen driven on public road a week prior to this. They do not have proof of the illegal number plate being driven on the road. The car was parked on my private driveway and he helped himself to remove the plate without my consent and has said for me to get in contact with him. Surely this is out of bounds?
I don't know about the legality of the officer's actions, but I sounds like a good way of getting your attention.

Ha ha ha ha

I'm not a fan of silly spacing

However, it was trespass and criminal damage - otherwise known as aggravated trespass

Must admit though, I am curious as to whether an officer is entitled to enter private property and damage a vehicle in this way? Presumably the answer is yes.
Nevertheless- silly number plate, no sympathy!

Police officer collecting evidence of illegal activity is out of bounds?

Isn't that what warrants are for? Walking onto private property is no different from walking through someones front door, surely?

More like the same as entering your house if you left the front door open

So much for et domus sua cuique est tutissimum refugium next you'll be telling us plod can send a piece paper to your home demanding to know who was driving your car too fast through a speed camera.

OP has already said they have evidence. Cop said he saw it on the road. Job jobbed!

Depending on how badly you pissed the cop off, they may well notify DVLA and ask for the registration to be revoked too. Then you get a Q plate - good luck selling the car with that.

It normally takes three strikes before a plate is revoked and if so it will be reissued with the original number.
