New car purchase, logbook loan worry?
Discussion
Hi chaps. I'm going to look at a car tomorrow, potentially it's the most I've ever spent on a car (2.5k). Asides from checking all the service history, old mot's and doing a mycarcheck, is there anything else I can to do ensure there isn't a logbook loan on it?
I'm a bit of a worrier and have heard a few horror stories about these.
The bloke who has the car is a trader and sells many vw's if that's at all relevant.
Thanks in advance.

Check the date of issue on the V5 compared to the last change of owner. Might give you a clue, if they are far apart. There are genuine reasons for there being a difference of course, but it could also be a clue that the original V5 is being held by a log book loan co, and the registered keeper has obtained a duplicate from the DVLA.
Thanks for the advice chaps, will let you know how I get on.

Experian is the best search in my opinion as its gives everything you need to know. Owners, Finance, Plate changes, VIN numbers, colour etc etc.
One key wouldn't worry me, but you can always buy another and get it programmed if need be.
Just make sure all VIN numbers and engine numbers match and just keep an eye out for anything unusual.
Sure it will be fine.
