Late paying speeding ticket...help!
Discussion
A few days before I went away on holiday I was stopped doing 91 in a 70 zone in my bf's car. Got the pink ticket, told 28 days to pay the fine etc.
Trouble is I lost the pink slip and have no idea what date it actually happened. I genuinely just remembered about it now and called to tell them I'm sorry but have lost the ticket. The woman was very snappy and said it's gone to the procurator fiscal and there's no point trying to call him.
I'm totally panicking. I genuinely forgot with all the stuff that's been going on this month (the holiday was super stressful) and I really can't afford to lose my license
Anyone else experienced this? What is the procedure? Can I appeal?

If you were stopped and issued with a conditional offer, then effectively thats all it it a "Conditional offer" - accept the points and fine and you wont have to go to court
If you fail to comply with the conditions of this offer within 28 days, the officers involved will instead report the matter to the PF.
Generally, but not always the PF will give you a further opportunity to accept the fine and points or give you the option to take it to court.

Sounds like Scottish law which may differ from the rest.A few years ago I was nabbed using my mobile phone, (fair cop!), while driving and given a fixed penalty notice. I lost the notice and wrote a letter to the local court giving an approximate date of the offence, my vehicle and personal details and took it down to the courthouse. By luck, the back part of the ticket had not been handed in by plod. The court agreed I had provided all necessary information to trace the ticket but were unable to accept my payment without either my slip or the back part from plod.
They kept a note of my details and confirmed that I had attempted to pay and would not be penalised for not doing so.
A nice lady from the court rang me about 6 weeks later saying nothing had yet arrived. When I asked where I stood, here exact words were "Think of this as an early Christmas present!"
The moral of my tale is sopmetimes plod don't actually process all the paperwork or occasionally loose the original ticket books.
My advice for all fixed penalty notices is to visit the court in person, offer to pay stating the original has been misplaced, and see what happens from there.
My wife did the same thing. Scamera, motorway, 82mph. On M6. Nip followed. £60 and 3 points. I told her not to bother replying as it wasn't sent recorded. I think she had one other reminder. (still not sent recorded. I again told her to ignore it. This is a mistake.)
A couple of months later she was summoned to court for failing to provide info to identify driver. Long story, tried writing letter admitting guilt to speeding, they didnt accept that, spoke to solicitor in Scotland (where we live) and he thought there could be a get out in the paperwork. (Scottish solicitor can't officially work on an english case. )
Eventually pled guilty to failing to identify. A
After doing an income/expenses sheet from the court which showed outgoings as slightly more than income, still got a £300 fine and 3 points.
Insurance companies really don't like having MS90 on their books either. (about £150 extra per year.)
Needless to say I had to pay her fine. Oops.
Edit. I'm drunk and this is about about replying to a nip. Sorry. Good luck anyway.....

I had a similar situation in the mid 90's where I received a FPN but was late sending off the cheque to the ticket office. A week or so later I received a letter returning my cheque, saying that because I had missed the payment deadline that the matter is being referred to the court. A further 3-4 weeks later I get another letter saying that although there was sufficient evidence to convict, they were not going to proceed with the case. A bit of a result in the end.
I'm more or less in the same boat, I was caught doing 35mph in 30 back in September last year, paid £100 fine, but forgot to send off my licence, then this morning I had a letter to be Summond to court, I've pleaded guilty via the direct.gov webs
te, so fingers crossed I don't get my pants pulled down
I was caught via a scammer van, not bad 5 months after the offence.
