Interesting, cheers Street.
A few comments though. Their still seems to be an emphasis on the camera's save lives. In my job when I evaluate things like clinical papers to decide what drug is best I have to figure in a lot of factors. I would ilke to see the same rigour applied to the claims on camera it just doesn't add up.
Brunstorm strikes again, speed is criminal etc.. Yes but so is murder. The law recognises the difference in the SERIOUSNESS of the crime and hands out punishment accordingly. Now this I feel is where the problems start, most people can distingust right from wrong. Going down a motorway, empty, 2am, dry. 110 mph. Some will judge this right, others wrong. The points system, 4 strikes and your out, out of a job, house and potenially family. Its a big problem for people. So don't "speed" but see above.
We need more traffic police, in marked cars, patrolling. Not sat at the side with a gun but driving around increasing their contact with motorist where they are more likely to pick up problems greater than speeding. (I'm sure Street may have a comment about that statement
)).
PS we, the NHS, kill alot more people than 4000 a year.

Yep, I've mentioned this before...only Trafpol have discretion, Gatsos/Truvelos dont.

I'm not a fan of Gatsos, apart from outside schools etc. However, I think the 4 strikes and you're out, as you quote it, is about right. Now, I'm a cop and a supercop at that..

. Consequently, over the last couple of decades, I've exceeded the speed limit in both car and on motorcycle, yet have never been prosecuted or even flashed by a camera. I don't think it's luck or coincidence. Instead, I think it's a case of appropriate speeding in appropriate locations.
