Tax advice

I'm picking up a car today from a dealer, one snag though, it has no tax and my insurance cover note is being slowed in the post because, apparently, there's something on next weekend!!!

where do i stand legally if i just drive the car home and leave it on the drive without a disc?

There was another thread about this recently. You are OK to take it home as long as you're insured and then get it taxed ASAP to cover the date you drive it.

i figure that if i drive fast enough, no-one will see the lack of tax disc anyway.......

If you have your docs with you, and are unlucky enough to get stopped on your way home I am sure that a sensible BIB would be reasonable about it
