What are these cameras?

[peej91]

Today, I was driving to the shop when I noticed a white van parked on the pavement (not a speed check van) and at various points across the bridge there were men in orange hi-vis jackets standing with cameras pointing at the traffic, literally these cameras were afew hundred feet away from each other, if that. There were about 2/3 cameras in total. What are these? Are they to catch speed or are they doing some other checks. I;ve only ever seen them before once.. It just baffled me as to why there were cameras that close to each other and what they were doing.. Any ideas?

You sure they are not the usual level tools they use being engineers?

Could be a bunch of things, need more detail as to what they looked like, the cameras that is. Where exactly was this?

On a tripod? Probably surveyors, and they aren't cameras they are laser or LIDAR distance meters
