Reading more about this in the Sunday rag

http://www.u.tv/News/Porsche-seized-in-counterfeit...

Two up in court this week raking in £700k in counterfeit parts mainly from Porsche and BMW. The strange thing is that most of what they were selling appeared to be key fobs, dust caps and key rings.

Which makes me wonder firstly how many were the selling to make £700k? and secondly how much are genuine Porker key fobs, key rings and dust caps

Apparently it was these guys:

http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFe...

Phrases like "BRAND NEW GENUINE PORSCHE DRIVING LICENSE / DOCUMENTS HOLDER / PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ITEM IS ABSOLUTELY GENUINE & ORIGINAL PORSCHE PRODUCT SOURCED FROM PORSCHE GB" probably rile them if it wasn't.

99% positive feedback over 25000 reviews. Probably 100,000 transactions as very few leave a rating. Not bad at all. Customers are obviously satisfied.

Their products must have been better than BMW's. Why did the police get involved though, BMW power? Looks more like a civil matter. Imagine if the police got involved with every instance of counterfeits being sold on Ebay.

The piper plays the tune and I'd imagine the discounts on those X5s and 5 series' are quite significant.

Markup on something like this must be immense £39 for basically a sticker!

It's unusual for you to be whinging about the police GETTING involved? You're normally crying about them not doing so?

And surely, with your extensive knowledge of the UK police forces and their powers, you would know that high level Fraud is a criminal matter (something the police deal with) as well as a civil matter.

It is not much less than that for a set that fits a poverty spec Audi!

I have got someone similar mocked up for a client and in moulded plastic it was about £5. Chrome would obviously be a lot more.

But i'd hazard a guess that even genuine Porsche ones aren't metal.

To be fair 9 negatives in one year for 3000 sales seems like nothing.

Wouldn't be surprised Porsche UK or BMW UK noticed they were taking business away from them and bought a few items in hope they would be fake.

Surely the reason they got nicked was because they have GENUINE plastered all over the listings

I myself have made parts but always sold them as pattern and for about third the price of the genuine dealer part. Nothing wrong with pattern parts of the same or better quality.
