Driving home from work in company vehicle. Driving from dual carriage way road into single lane bottle neck, traffic was heavy, car next to me refused to let me in after I was signalling for some time, in the end said car driver decided to hang on the horn almost coming to a stop!?? , she didn't look at me once, didn't acknowledge me at all. In her decision to almost stop a 2 car gap became available in front of her so I drove past and into this gap, incident was over and done with.
This week my boss receives a letter from the police, apparently she was a member of the force and decided to make my boss aware of "erratic" but they will not be taking the case further.

Safe to say my boss laughed it off after I told him what actually happened, what is this bully tactic all about , my boss has a great solicitor and is now going to find what his views are on this.

If anything I would like to tAke it further and report her irresponsible driving style and decisions.

What is this "show of force" all about ??

I'm sure she has better things to do than compile a letter containing utter nonsense .

Suppose this depends on how close to the bottle neck you were?

As "IF" you just ploughed on down the outside and then wacked your indicator on expecting to be let in, when Miss plod has been edging forward slowly.

Happens everyday to me but im 44 ton with cameras everywhere to explain why ive wrote you off after you ve jumped the que.

Devils advocate from me.

Totally understand if that was the case cossy but as I say it was heavy slow moving traffic, a big deal was made over nothing and indicator was on for some time along with a lot of others.

I put it down to her having a bad day at work , probably had to many letters to write that day.

ah jeez - not this sh@t again

it's called merging in turn, not queue jumping.

FFS - what's so hard to understand about using both lanes, up until the point where they merge?

Of the two versions I'm more inclined to believe cossy400's.
It takes two to tango & I'm curious as to why the OP didn't just drop back & slot in behind her as the safest option instead of trying to force the issue.

ETA. As the OP has said 'A big deal was made over nothing'

The Highway Code has a bit to say about this and suggests full use of the road.

The drivers of bigger vehicles can bully the drivers of smaller vehicles but that doesn't mean such conduct is right.

I'd be interested to know if the letter is from the police or from a police officer.

No issue was forced, and yes she made a big deal over nothing, why she felt the need to hang the horn I do not know. I drive around London daily and was a professional driver for some time so I know road dos and donts but this was ridiculous.it was purely a case of abusing her work position. Wonder how often this happens and a word is never said about it.

Why people cant just merge in turn nicely and politely. Always see truckers thinking they have a right to block a perfectly usable carriageway when in reality they are often just creating congestion further back as road traffic storage space is reduced.

...and so rages the merge in turn debate.

The same as whats so hard that you ve glanced straight past the bit where I put depends how close to the bottle neck you were?? (yes its a merge in turn but if everybody else has merged in and Rossi for arguments sake sails down the outside and then looks for a gap, that's not merging is it?)

Oh and devils advocate but hey "not the this st again"

Yea the st were posters don't read all the comment and just jump in.

You weren't there 2 sides to every story.

Also if I was Rossis boss whilst binning the letter, id maybe thinking well hang on that my company sign written van.

Hardly going to bring the business in.

From a personal point of view, id quite happily let everyone in, (paid by the hour and away all week)

My point about the cameras is the fact that im 44 ton and the majority of people think it will stop on a 10 pence piece, the reality is far different.

I deal with it every day and im lucky in the fact I rarely have a time slot to meet so no need to race about.

But what you see on your commute to work I see at every junction/cross roads/island.

A day out in a truck would open a lot of peoples eyes. but then we d have nothing to moan about on the internet.

Vans not sign written , the letter was sent to registered keeper based on the reg plate. He wasn't concerned about my driving , he listened and knows I can be trusted , he is now more interested in looking into hitting back, the letter was from police stating that the driver in question is a member of the force. I know all about the type of reactions you get here on PH from certain members but knowing the true facts and never having this never happen to me before I'm pretty wound up that a police officer thinks it's ok to act like they did on the road then write a letter of complaint.

Every other car would let someone in, the position I was in made it then be my turn to pull in, she held a tight position next to me hanging her horn as I went to merge in, if I had not let up she would of continued to drive into the side of my vehicle. Eventually she made a point of stopping almost , in this time I drove In front of her safely driving into the two car gap she had left for no reason. Traffic behind her was also getting peeved with her driving decisions . I would understand if I had flown down and cut in but I didn't and wouldn't be here writing this post if I did. I would be the first to moan about someone cutting in if this had been the case.

Let us know how it pans out.

And as ive stated which someone would of been along and done anyway, (devils advocate)

Not in anyway disputing your version of events.

But not everything is as cut and dried these days.

Good luck OP.

Sounds like another version of events might be:

You pull alongside, put the indicator on, then when she doesn't drop back to make space you pull left and make her brake to avoid a collision.

I'd have a think before you take this further.

Likewise - cant really see what offences they'd be looking at here from an incident occuring at no more than a couple of mph. The other drivers clearly got the hump over what happened and decided to get her own back through the job. I'd question the use of PNC on this one if shes used it merely to get her own back on the OP

Wow, you sound like a very angry person. I really hope that doesn't come through when you're in charge of 44 tonnes!
