Extremely stupid behaviour especially from the guy in the truck. IMHO this is very good use of police time. People that use their phones (especially for onscreen activities) whilst driving are an even bigger danger than drink drivers.

Patrolling the roads and punishing drink drivers, phone users must take priority over easier revenue generating operations.

A question that appears to get harder and harder to answer as people continue to find more stupid things to do behind the wheel.

I suppose the police could make life easier by using google "search for similar photos" app to locate similar car selfies on twitter/facebook and identify the fools.

Seen a few reports of people who step backwards over cliff edges etc whilst taking selfies.... For some reason brains seem to go out the window when it comes to getting a picture of yourself to put on facebook.

It's not though is it, because it'll be the poor pedestrian/cyclist/motorcyclist that gets killed, not the tosser in the car.

you think that's bad, in russia (well moscow and my experience) professional drivers spend their entire time watching tv on their phone whilst driving.

Try driving an Atom on the motorway. Most cars with passengers in will take photos or vids, and about 10% of drivers on their own will also take videos, some lasting several miles.

And without reading the article I'm going to postulate that little thought is given to the other multitude of reasons that people may have been holding their phones in their hands. And the fact that their taking of pictures may not have been what caused them to die.

Looking at how far the #drivingselfie goes back on instagram and twitter, its not a new thing and not limited to the UK. Lots of pics that are obviously not the UK (think USA and Australia) so not just the UK born muppets doing it.

Some 'could' be taken from a handsfree - still dodgy mind but some are pics taken holding the phone in hand and showing kids in the back too!!!

Did see a few from a twitter user Horny Milf whos pictures while driving were ahem slightly different yikes

A few weeks ago I was driving alongside a Fiat 500 with a girl Face timing someone as she drove along the Edinburgh bypass at about 55mph, probably up there with the more retarded things I've seen whilst driving!

The article does mention that they had photos taken with their phones just before they died. It doesn't mention whether their photography was a cause or not, I guess that's rather hard to establish.

That was the only one that made sense. He clearly wasn't sound in the head at that point and wanted to tell his Mrs that he loved her before he was locked up, at least he actually had a reason laugh

Bearing in mind he was being chased by the Police, using his phone whilst driving is pretty insignificant compared to the other crimes that he's committing.
