Dartford Tunnel SPECS?

Noticed that they have erected SPECS at the entry and exit from the tunnels - an extra tax on top of the 25% price hike for the crossing??

They've been there for a couple of years and operational since earlier this year.

Oh dear, should've gone to Specsavers! This weekend was the first time I clocked them.

Mind you, the heady days of even thinking about hitting 50mph in the tunnels are buried about as deep in my memory as glam rock and stack heels...

There have been specs on the run up to the tunnel for years, the ones that you've seen are new though and for the roadworks. There are a few new ones at the bottom of the bridge too and they've dropped the 40mph bit to a 30. They've also stuck some up on the A13, all of them should be for the roadworks and should be taken down by the end of it.

Ah yes, I'm well aware of the ones in the run in. These are after the booths (or the remains of the booths!) just before the tunnel portals, and immediately outside on the northern/Essex side.
