Or do the police have the ability to tag you while moving accurately?

What's the procedure? Would you get pulled or just get something in the post?

Not entirely sure I was speeding...was minding my own business at the m20/m26 junction in Kent/SE London area keeping eye on road as traffic was quite heavy

Wierd thing happened...saw in my review an unmarked silver Audi with blues flashing within the grill, approx 100/150 yards behind.

At first i assumed they needed to go by to get to an accident or something so I popped myself Into lane 1 (lane 2 users in front of my continued on and definitely a bit too fast)

Car in question came into lane 1 also so for a second I thought they were going to pull me over, but they turned their lights off...then a few seconds later took the turn off for the A20 and left the motorway

Left me a bit confused what was going on. Not sure if that was "a bust", and to expect something in post or if they were on their way to an incident and were called off or something

Thoughts?

Unmarked cars do have Vascar systems. This is basically a computer used to measure your average speed from behind while moving.

If they had enough for the offence, it's almost a certainty they'd pull you and deal with you at the roadside.

Probability is they wanted a look at you, document checks came back ok on the computer and they fked off to look for someone else.

Ok cheers.. reassuring

To be honest it was so brief they wouldn't have had time to check details

If they had a camera that needed them to tail me for more than a few seconds that wouldn't have worked either

Just peculiar

I would suggest they were simply going to a job and got stood down.

They may have just been giving you a warning if they saw you do something. I doubt you'll get anything in the post in any case.

I once may have been making some progress on a motorway late at night, as was another car. When that car slowed for a marked police car, I assumed it wasn't an unmarked police car itself, and carried on as before, as did that car some way behind me. They took the same exit as me, then proceeded behind me along a dual carriageway to a roundabout. As I was preparing to take the third exit from that roundabout, they put their blues on. I took the exit, looked for somewhere to pull over, and then realised that they weren't behind me anymore and had taken the second exit. Just a warning, but something of a heartstopping moment!

Of course speeding is always terribly dangerous and anyone who does it should be shot to save themselves. (I think that's what you have to say on SP&L these days, now that we have so many control freaks...how "enriching" their presence is!)

I can think of at least 2 times where an unmarked car has been behind me while I've been speeding (when I was younger) and on both occasions they decided to let me carry on for a bit, then pull me over. When they pulled me over, they basically gave me a stern telling off and then said that on this occasion they would let me off because I didn't know it was a police car behind me.

Lol

Well I was just watching the road really...difficult double sliproad from m20 to m26 so I had my eyes on the road not the speedo that's my crime

The guys in lane 2 were really going for it so if it was a bust I'm surprised they didn't go after those too

Hopefully a false alarm

I've had this. Some idiot in a RAV4 blocking the fast lane so I pulled over to slow lane and crept past (naughty I know) and then floored it once I was past. Clear evening on downhill section of the motorway and nothing in front at all for as far as I could see (could also see round the corner and up the hill) got to over 100mph. Blue lights! Nooooo I'm going to get banned.

Alas very nice coppers. 3 of them! I explained my burst of speed was born out of frustration due to the afore mentioned RAV4 driver sat in the fast lane. Got off with 3 points, that's a result. He could see I worked a long way from home. His exact words were something along the lines of "What you've done is not that dangerous and I'm not going to take your license but had we been marked you would most likely have been for it!"
