About 25% of the spaces are disabled bays....at my gym!!! Usually completely empty whilst we all drive around for 15 mins waiting for someone to vacate a space.
Seriously? You mean to say the disabled bays aren't all in use by able bodied Audi and RR drivers? Miracles will never cease.TwigtheWonderkid said:

Devil's advocate: There are generally way too many disabled bays.

Usually completely empty whilst we all drive around for 15 mins waiting for someone to vacate a space.About the only time I would cut slack would be if you were stopping in one to drop off someone with a broken leg (or that sort of thing) and then only for so long as it took to drop them off before you went looking for a 'normal' space.
I'm going to go against the grain on this one......
Yes he shouldn't have parked where he did..... But he's said he'll pay the fine....
He probably relies on that old car for everything.... So I don't see why they need to take it away from him and make him pay even more money that he can't afford... Especially at xmas...
And yes I'm a blue badge holder and I get frustrated when I see able bodied folk using places reserved for people that need them....
But hey let the punishment fit the crime

We had the same sort of thing in my force.
The wife of a famous local celebrity had parked her 4x4 on an access road, blocking traffic. It was ticketed and there was a suggestion that there was a request for her to move it, although this was disputed by her.
The tow truck was called, the vehicle was lifted off the ground and the woman put her two children inside it.
The regulations governing the lifting of motor vehicles states that they should not be moved if there is anyone inside. So the crane was locked, blocks were put in place, and there was a stand-off.
Hubby came along, and intimidating chap, with his brother and a minder and his manager. He demanded that the 4x4 be lowered. The operator said he could not until the kids inside were removed. Hubby said that he'd continue raising it in that case, and the operator said he would.
I was called and then someone called the press. I pointed out to the manager that they would report that the children had been placed in a vehicle that was in the air. The manager said that the traffic warden had lied and that they were there all the time. I said no worries as it was on police CCTV.
It seemed that the bloke believed the missus, but then was advised by the manager to let things go. End of problem.
I checked. There are (were) regulations accepted by the industry and not moving a vehicle with someone inside is one of them. Further, the insurance company said they did not see themselves at risk from any injury or damage caused if a vehicle was knowingly lifted with occupants or people hanging on to it.
So this is a stand off. The vehicle cannot be lowered until the bloke gets out and if the bloke gets out it will be lifted.
