I've just received my third request for jury duty. The previous one was in September last year and prior to that at least 5 years in between the first two.

Due to working offshore on a rotational basis I am technically exempt on the grounds that it would cause inconvenience to the people that I work with.

Is there a limit on how many times you can be excused on these grounds before you have a mandatory summons or a refusal to excuse you based on these reasons?

Once, and didn't serve as the pool of potential jurors was for two trials, and the second trial got put back.

Won't serve now as I'm exempt (deaf) but I think I can't get exemption in advance of being asked.

Called twice, didnt do the first one due to work. 2nd one was this year. If you've served recently then this will apply

You cannot be made to sit on a jury more than once within the span of two years, so in the unlikely event that you are called upon less than two years after your previous service, you will most likely be excused. - See more at: http://jury-service.co.uk/jury-service-exemptions/...

Twice, once in my mid-20s and one in my late 30s (I'm 42 now). Ended up on cases both times (one ABH, one aggravated burglary) but neither lasted more than 3 days.

Both schools that I was working for at the time were fine about it, though I'm not sure what they'd have done if I'd ended up on a months-long trial.

That's unlucky!

I've done it twice. You can only be called three times, I believe.

I'm 52. 3 times. The first was 2 months after my 18th birthday, at the Old Bailey. What a fabulous experience to have. Even at 18 I realised how fortunate I was, and made sure I savoured every minute. Just brilliant.

The other 2 were in my 30s at Isleworth. Nothing for about 15 years now. Maybe asking for 4 goes is a bit greedy!

Once, didn't do it, serving copper at the time (when that wasn't allowed, they aren't so lucky these days).

Never and 41, put it down to
a) moving house 12 times in 20 years - maybe not in one place long enough to get on a list.
Or
b) chance.

Once a few months ago.

I was quite lucky and only sat on one jury for a couple of days so didn't cause to many issues with work, still a fair bit of waiting around.

Once, earlier this year at the age of 41. It was at the Old Bailey so quite interesting. Also, I was allowed to defer twice by getting a letter from work explaining the importance of a (short) second deferral.
