Hi All,

I had my TVR on a classic policy, that my 9yr ncb wasn't applied to.

Sadly this weekend it was written off (my fault).

What happens to my NCB now? On the one hand, it wasn't applied to the policy I am claiming on, so presumably unaffected?

On the other hand, I'm making a claim.

I'd rather know the answer before I try to insure something else as I don't want to apply it if its fraudulent to do so, but likewise I don't want to ask this question of the potential new insurance company as I presume they're likely to say no whether it can be used or not - owing to the discount I would get?

Thanks!

The NCD on your other policy won't be affected. You'll have to declare the accident when you renew your other policy, and that may well increase the premium, but you'll still get a discount on the increased premium.

Nail/head.

Of course, people often moan when they buy a 2nd car that they don't get any bonus on it, even though they have max bonus on their first car. "It should apply to the driver, not the vehicle" is the mantra. But in cases like yours, it's a good thing it doesn't work that way, or you would be losing your bonus.

Kind of related to this, seeing as the original question has been resolved in record time. Is it possible for one person to have 2 sets of NCD earned (for example) on 2 or more cars owned at the same time?

Yes, you can have multiple 'sets'.

I hope so, that's what I have going at the moment! (Max on one, three years on the other)

Yes - 2 lots on 2 cars

Whats more, when I first took out the second policy Admiral took into account the fact I had 9 years NCB on the other/different car and offered me 8 on the second car as a welcome bonus. Saved me around £400. It was made very clear it wasn't moving that NCB over. A year on and I have 9 years on both (seems that many top out at 9 years NCB) that are independent.

These things can be negotiable if you ring up.

The claim on the other hand, can't be negotiated and needs to be declared on all insurance renewals.

Wow, this must be a record for PH. Every answer is right, even to the subsequent questions and nobody has thrown a wobbly about NCD being crap or unfair either!

Speed cameras don't work and its not my fault.

(Is that better - both off topic and controversial? smile
