Bristol Mayor caught speeding - such irony!
Discussion
"Bristol mayor George Ferguson, who has been instrumental in introducing new 20mph speed limits across the city, has been caught speeding in a 30mph zone."
Some may find this a little amusing

I have to smile at that, be even better if it was one of the Brake loonies, or a scamerati employee.
Oh no - this is going to be big in Bristol
This bloke is rapidly becoming known as Bristol's car-hater-in-chief. As I understand it from my contacts down there (I lived in the city and its environs for nearly 30 years and I know a couple of Councillors down there) he is almost universally disliked by local politicians, and there are going to be a lot of people who are going to make a lot of mileage out of this.
And this isn't going to help:

It serves as a sharp warning to me and I have blemished an otherwise clean licence and shall be paying the penalty charge willingly from my own pocket.
S'cuse me George, but you were driving a car that was going in excess of the speed limit, and caught by the very people that you have been campaigning to get back out on Bristol's roads
And who the feck should be grateful that you are willingly paying this out of your own pocket? Are you suggesting that you could have claimed it under mayoral expenses but you chose not to? If I was a local journalist I'd be having a lot of fum with that apparently arrogant statement.
But I wonder why its taken 6 weeks to get into the public domain?

I guess he can afford to pay out of his own pocket following his 13% pay rise.

And by a camera van, not a static camera
According to the news last night they mentioned he was "driving a hire car with two further passengers, neither of whom was insured to drive it" ...
I was not sure what inference they were making from that statement if anything at all ...
