Hi chaps, here's a very short, boring thread.

I've found a note on my car from the council saying that I am illegally parked and that if I don't move my vehicle It'll be moved at my expense. No mention as to how I'm illegally parked, just as that I am.

Now, if I was parked illegally, I'd thank my lucky stars and move the car as I have prior experience of being illegally parked in the councils eyes before and in that case they slung my car onto a low loader within 2 hours.

However I don't see how I'm illegally parked where I am. Further more, there isn't really anywhere else to park. The council have already taken 8 parking spots on a small, overcrowded estate in relation to the works needed for the scaffolding we've currently got. People have resorted to parking outside garages, on kerbs, etc. Now its the middle of the day I COULD move it, but then either completely out of my sight (and ears) on the other side of the estate or to a spot where it will be CAKED in bird droppings within hours. And what's more, I guarantee you someone else will park in this spot.

Here's a couple of pics, excuse the car looking a bit sorry for itself, work is crazy ATM.

(Strongly suspect that the flat tyres have been caused by one of my lovely neighbours over an issue with - You guessed it - Parking in a different space rolleyes. I don't currently have time to sort it so its been like that for a week but, I don't think flat tyres however are illegal? Needless to say that its obviously Taxed, MOT'd and insured)

I also know I could be slightly closer to the curb in theory, but its still miles within what was 'legal' in the eyes of the law.

The curb that you can see breaking away doesn't lead to a road, its just a footpath and I'm well clear of it.

Obviously called the council but nothing heard back thus far.

I don't mind arguing this if I'm in the right like I think I am, I just wanted to get someone to check before I make a fool of myself biggrin.

Cheers

The only issue i could see (and it's a very minor one) is you appear to be parked towards the flow of traffic.
It's usually illegal at night to do this due to no reflectors on the front of the car.

Driving around with flat tyres is illegal so as it's been stored in a public place it might be that as well.

Are you sure it's an official note from the council and not a fake from your nasty neighbour. The parking looks fine to me!

IIRC some enforcement officers take a dim view of wheels not being straight, but other than that your neighbour is probably on a wind up. The council aren't known for being lenient and leaving a polite note. In my experience it is a ticket or tow.

Are we all sure that this is an adopted road being a highway maintainable at the Public expense, not just a private one that the Council own and have granted rights of way over...

Other than that angle and the traffic direction one I am having difficulty seeing the issue (other than the flat tyres wink )

You would have a ticket on the screen telling you your illegally parked from the council, this is a wind up from someone, go buy an old shagger of a car transporter for the neigbours to look at all day, then park your car on the transporter at night, your own space at their expense, then save up for an old snotter of a Luton van to park next to it!!

If that is a Junction that you are pointing towards then:

Do Not park:
opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space

If that isn't a junction i can't really see to much wrong with it

Definitely looks legit and I doubt it would be made by that same neighbour, on the last note this left they misspelt the word "park". I'm not joking either.

What has crossed my mind is that someone else got the note and left it on my car for some reason. I noticed that this specific neighbour thoughtfully parked on a kerb obstructing both the road and the footpath when I came home this evening and I've noticed them parking in some other dodgy areas the last few days, hence my rage of me getting a note.

I need to move...

Are there any restriction signs for that road or area? Can we see the note?

Just had another look at the note:

Its not legit, is it? It was quite crumpled

Like has been said (and experience by me) if its illegal, they'd take it.

Its only my respect for other people's property and that 1% that says it might not be him that is stopping me washing this Neighbours' car with a tub DOT4 and a scouring pad...

I'm fking livid.
