Can anyone tell me that if a vehicle has a tow bar fitted it is required to have some sort of audible warning when reverse gear is selected in order to pass an MOT test ?
For example one single warning beep inside the vehicle when reverse is first selected.
or a series of beeps as produced by reversing alarms commonly used on trucks.
Thanks

Nope. Or at leat mine have never.

There was a rule about audible sound with indicators, but modern cars include trailer in fault systems so again no need.

No. Not for the MOT, or for C&U. There's a C&U requirement for an audible or visible warning of the trailer indicators, but that's not MOT tested.

All the MOT tests is if the bar itself is close to physically hanging off. If you've got 13-pin electrics, they're tested, but 7-pin aren't.
