Recommendations for a (reasonably) simple will
Discussion
With apologies if I'm in the wrong forum.
Mother in law (elect) wants to ensure her will is correct. She approached a couple of local solicitors and they quoted rather a lot of money.
She's now looking at online places.
I have no knowledge of them. Are any of them any good?
It should be a fairly simple matter, I doubt she will trouble IHT thresholds, and there's just a variation to ensure a family member receives back monies that were gifted to her some time ago.
Any recommendations on how to proceed? Is it best to engage a local solicitor?

Honestly look for someone with TEP after their name and remember as you are saving every penny now that this will be the physical manifestation of the last expression of her wishes as to the distribution of her entire wealth. If the Will is wrong then her entire estate might not be dealt with as she would have wished.
Put it another way. Add up every single penny you are worth and tell me if you would instruct the cheapest bidder to ensure that it is dealt with as you would wish after you are dead, and so can't stand up and say "That's not what I meant to happen..."

I agree totally. One of the people she rejected is who I used for my will.Forums | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
