Here's an interesting list.

Some have been nicked 6 times for no insurance?

What's the point?

If you're predisposed to drive without insurance - because you can't afford it, or choose not to, then chances are you don't care much about whether you are driving whilst disqualified or not.

Being caught numerous times for the same offence therefore poses no real threat compared to a sure thing of paying out hundreds of pounds for insurance to drive legitimately. Also, once you've been caught once your insurance goes up anyway - further encouraging those who might otherwise have at least tried to save up to pay for it to avoid buying it entirely.

Statistically the chances of being caught driving without insurance relative to number of journeys you might make is very low, and gets lower every time there's a cut in Police budgets. I can see why a certain type of people would take that risk.

They really ought to get some jail time after displaying such a blatant disregard for the law.

Do you know the circumstances of any of the cases?

These are absolute offences - no intent required, just did you or didn't you. You are either insured or not. You either supply details or not. You either broke the speed limit or not.
