For 2 evenings running we've had a heavy Immigration/Boarder Force and police presence at Manchester Piccadilly railway station plus all train companies doing enhanced ticket checks(no barriers at Picc and only Northern do any daily checking) right at the peak of the evening rush. In a 36 year railway career I've never seen Immigration at a railway station before. Anyone come across this at other stations, cynic mode says pre election show!

Perhaps they're looking for runaways from the local boarding school?

I think they're skirting the main issue but the central plank of the new immigration policy is mainline station checks.

Must be trying to catch this guy. Great to see lots of useful immigration work around Manchester this week.

Why do the feckers at XC keep putting 4 car 'sardine trains' on instead of the 'just about comfortable' 5 car trains on,
Ie the Bournemouth and Paignton trains is a pain in the ass trying to get to Birmingham and back mad

Ps who's the 'mad' guard/ticket collector/ announcer guy ??? smile

I go first class on that route. Buy a ticket Birmingham to Stafford then Stafford to man and first costs just a little more than standard.

They also have a mad blonde bloke that does the trolley. He is annoying and rubbish at his job.

Mad staff covers about 50%! As for the crap trains, I couldn't agree more.
