I have what appears to be an abandoned car in my office car park.

I have checked with the police and it's not reported as stolen. The Council don't want to know as it's private land.

Anyone know if breakers will remove it and what they charge please?

Do I have to put a notice on it giving them 7 days to remove or something. I have previously left a note under the wipers which has gone, could have been the owner, someone else or the wind.

If it's more than a few days then personally I'd try to get RK details from DVLA first.

Do you have anyone in your company that is due to replace his company car.If so I would tell him that the company are cutting back on the company cars and that the abandoned car is his new one.I love a wind up.

How do you know it's not someone just parking it there for an extended period? Plenty on here would defend the car owner if you sold it, as an illegal fine or some other nonsense.

If its on your land and its obviously an old dumped dog ? I suppose the correct way is to contact the registered keeper.I think there is a way to do it through DVLA. Inform them that your charging £10 a day parking until its removed. If its not removed in one month you will sell it for scrap and they will be billed for any out of pocket expenses.Keep copies of all correspondence but I bet you will hear nothing.
After saying all this I had a dumped car by my business.Waited a few months and got the scrappers in.
With another dumped car I got the local Fire Brigade to collect it.They use them for training, cutting roofs off and so on.

We have something similar but in a visitors bay where I live, we have checked with all the other flats (its a small block, only 6 flats) and no one knows who it belongs too.

If we are unsuccessful in tracing through DVLA would it be the same thing, call the breakers to get it taken away?

Cant you just tow it out in to the road? not your problem then;) My ex girlfriend parents had a caravan left outside the house, the owner had moved and had said it was going with. After a few weeks we just wound the jacks up at the rear and pushed it out of her road and left it in the middle of the adjoining road. We all put cars back where he could repark it,police called him out as his reg plate was still on the back and he got moaned at for leaving his van in the middle of the road.

I've had similar. I rang local plod who advised a notice would need to be put on the car giving the owner 14 days to move it. If not moved you were able to remove it for them.

Wouldn't fancy dealing with the results if you did remove it personally. Luckily it was moved before it got to that stage.

I was about to post the same thing biggrin

OP, I'm not interested in a smashed MX5, but what's the first car? An old Mercedes or something? Anything interesting?

So did you get the RK details from the DVLA and contact the RK?

I keep posting this. DVLA will not give out these details to anybody other than a large company with just cause. In my experience that is councils, plod, insurers and some solicitors. Doesn't matter what link you post, that is the reality. I'm willing to prove it and pay for you to test it out if you want.
