What's the law on this?
I've just moved into a lovely old town house but have a CCTV camera right outside my bedroom window, and am obviously concerned about the possible lack of privacy that might occur in said room, with regards to the specific activities that will occur within.

Can anyone assure me that I won't be a free peep show for the local CCTV operators?

Curtains are top of my list of things to purchase, but are these cameras IR?
The camera isn't static, and is housed in a glass dome.

If you ask the council, I imagine they will confirm but from previous experience dome cameras which 'can' look into residential property will have a digital black spot in the appropriate place.

It's not the walls, it's the 400yr old window I'm worried about.

I'd not be happy either OP. A wedge of sticky-back plastic a la Blue Peter on the dome should do the trick.

Correct, the right to privacy is regarded as a basic human right.

Low-tech solution, I like it.

Lasers wouldn't be in keeping with the tone of the property, unfortunately.

I assume the previous occupant wasn't bothered about it? Didn't you notice it when you viewed the place?

Might still be recorded on the DVR though.

Get a load of IR LEDs and wire them up like fairy lights over the window.
Should mask you to most digital cameras.

Nope, AFAIK it doesn't appear on the recordings.
