Bit of a neighbour from Hell situation. Recently I had to "discourage " a cat from entering my garden .I used a jug of water. Then a bit later, this neighbour had a mini riot outside their house. Masses of folks surrounding the house. The tenant has a lot of vehicles parked in and around his house. And some appear in town side streets with "for sale" signs on then. I've discouraged their pet cat from entering our garden with a jug of water, which they don't like
My dog "discouraged" their pet cat from entering my garden ,and was instantly reported to council as a "dangerous" dog.
Their teenage kids are let loose on the street playing football with a leather ball ,which can and does get skied to end up on a car roof ,or battering a front door. I have requested, civilly , that his kids stop, and respect cars parked off the road .The ball( and kids) are seen running into gardens to retrieve ball from said front gardens.
My problem is that said little gits sky a ball too often ,to end up on my car roof/in my garden ,battering my front door.
I've asked that his kids respect my (and other ) vehicles in the road. Answer" theY have no other place to play " , BUT I'm one of a group that fought for a place for kids to play .other than in the road. My answer - "camera goes up".
Tonight- ball games- and ball ends up being skied from over the (narrow) road to end up bouncing off my car roof ,and battering front door. i watched them from upstairs, and when one of them appeared to retrieve ball from my garden, I showed my self from( behind net curtains) upstairs front window, displaying a camera, with lens cover on .PANIC.
I KNOW the neighbour has intentions - he's declared them as "I'll get you out"! - said many times before ,but my only defence is to get photo evidence of his kids trying to make my life hell. Then once camera is spotted- Paedo is cried.
Any help ,before it gets to this stage.

Catwin's Law (like Godwin's, but feline); original post 'n' all wink ...

Reminds me of the bloke who suspected his wife was having an affair, followed her out of the front door then noticed his car's front wing was mismatched as his wife climbed into her amour's car...

Or the poor chap who was (allegedly) abducted by aliens who also fed his dog mushrooms (and which dog later popped its rivets)...

hehe

Have the kids actually caused any damage at all?

If not, then I don't think you'll get anywhere as going into your open front garden is not a crime.

If they cause damage then call the police.

Why was the lens cover on? Do they have really good eyesight?

My only comment is that you can't reason with/educate unreasonable people and you should involve the police (neighborhood team) first. Else you will get stitched up.

AH- the PH problem. Cat owner was upset that I'd used the most humane method of persuading her "little darling" that my front garden is a no go area for cats. To add insult to the visit from the dog warden over my dog being dangerous, their teenage daughter often roams the street letting all know that she thinks my dig is dangerous. Dog warden saw it as terrier chased cat, as dogs do , caught cat, inflicted no damage, despite the fact it could have ripped tha cat open, and when dog chased cat past 3 year old ,left to own devices on an open road, the child was frightened by the noise and screamed. The child was not harmed, as the dog will stay away from kids she does not know.
To those non PH, ( or so it seems), would you like to have a full sized leather football battered against your car paintwork ,leaving the tell tale swirls from the ingrained dirt on the surface of the ball/ you windows covered in muck/scratched/wing mirrors damaged /roof assaulted from a ball descending from height---etc etc. Lets us know who are car lovers ,--NO?.
Lens cover was on., simply as a protection device . I'd no intention of photographing kids, at this stage ,and if someone had suggested this --how could they explain the lens cover being on- and could they see it, but at least I could swear in all honesty that it was.
Hantsrat- object of exercise is to PREVENT damage to car. This bunch of kids don't really care - any damage is a bonus, but the stress of keeping tabs is their aim.
Thanks, Grimnasty - I have had a very good relationship with our council tenancy enforcement team over the years ,and I am one of their main sources of feedback for this area. I suspect that something is in the pipeline, as this tenant has had a visit, and it needs more than one complaint to achieve that, so someone else is complaining.

Not just me wondering that, then...?

OP - you NEED to check into the legal difference between cats and dogs, and quickly
A dog owner is legally responsible for where their dog goes and what it does.
A cat owner is not legally responsible for where their cat goes and what it does, except for some liability for damage caused by the cat. A bit of poo in a flower bed is not "damage".
http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advice/your-pets-a...

If your loose dog had injured or killed that cat, you would be legally responsible.

Judging by the level of literacy and antics of the neighbors, don't you want the "council" thread?

Bit difficult with camera in hand, i.e.not directed at anything, and lens cap on . I've made several civil requests to the kids parents to keep the ball away from my car, and each one has been met with aggression, and the kids return ,each time causing more problems. I've had the father attempt to stop me driving down road and shouting abuse at me. Last time I handed the wife the digital camera and got her to set it to video ,with sound record. He saw the camera and backed off. My ORIGINAL post was a request for help in the problems of using CCTV to deter the kids from lobbing the ball around with no thought for other's property ,and perhaps instill some respect in this bloke for other folks property.

.

Where did I say that. The dog was in the rear of the car, off lead ,and saw the cat. It escaped through the gap in the rear door. The cat stopped under a car and turned half round as dog got to it. A dangerous dog would have no hesitation in going for the throat. Mine backed off, as the cat had surrendered. Something verified by the dog warden ,who investigated his complaint. When the cat found that the threat had subsided, it made off ,followed by the dog ,something a neighbour living in view of the opposite side of the car ( out of my sight) has confirmed. The cat was only pursued by the dog, and suffered no damage. However, the teenage daughter does walk around making statements that my dog attacked her brother( a three year old left to wander in/on the road). The neighbour has confirmed ( and wiling to stand up in court)that my dog shot past the three year old. The teenage daughter has made her intent clear to kill my dog, and the parents will severely damage it if it is on road. However the daughter does attend ( when she goes, which is not often) a school for special needs.

Just what the father would like. This pattern is typical thug behaviour in this area. In this case I know there has been a complaint made against the father as using a council property as a place of business( car sales place) and investigated, having talked to the council enforcement team who confirmed that his words were as a complaint made to them. They confirmed that they only investigate if evidence comes from more two or more complaints. I was not involved in this complaint, though father is convinced I was. But the bad news for the father is that I knew of problems and had compiled a dossier of vehicles in and out of the property, which I believe has been passed on .
He also added a threat to make our life unpleasant( and more) until we moved out. As a result I've been the target of teenage ball games, where the ball always seems to end up on my car roof /batter against my door/windows .
Since the sight of the camera, there has been no further problems, and i've involved the local Safer neighbourhood team in my complaint.

I understand it's the principle but from the sound of the area it doesn't seem like it would be a massive loss to move to a different road, let's be honest...
