Faulty car brought from dealer but....
Discussion
I recently brought a car from an independent dealer which 4 weeks later developed a fault (leaking front radiator due to corrosion) which left the car undriveable unless topped up with coolant before each journey.
Shortly after buying it I noticed a very small puddle under the car after it had been parked up for a couple of days but thought little of it.
Gradually the front radiator/fan began coming in intermittently and in the last 2-3 days I would have to top the car up with coolant before each journey.
Its a 2003 MR2 and having done little mileage in it and from the above description I expect the fault was present when sold. However due to time constraints and geographic location I haven't got it looked at by the dealer I brought it from; can I still chase the selling dealer for the cost/contribution for the work? It's about £700 total (main dealer price), unfortunately I'm driving it to Italy Saturday and it was the only option!!
In general it's a good condition car with 76k on the clock. No visible signs of the corrosion from looking at the car as the radiator is tucked

I expect it was.But that doesn't mean that the supplier is necessarily liable for an age-related fault on a 12yo car.
Because of the distance (and that's entirely your choice, not theirs), they might have paid for the part - even the labour - through goodwill, but there's no way you can expect them to cough up for a £700 replacement, without having the opportunity to investigate and fix it themselves first. Especially not when ECP could have had a Valeo rad with you tomorrow for £62, if you'd ordered less than two hours before you posted here.
Unfortunately I'm driving it to Italy and leaving Friday morning. Trying to organise a million things so didn't have time to shop around. Ordered a rad for £70 from a very reputable MR2 specialist, they fitted it but it it too had a leak. Official toyota rad was available at the garage so I plu, pedestal for that.
Like it and lump it I guess

Arrgghh....it's bought not brought.
Thank you that perfectly answers my questionIf all you had done was to bring a car from the dealer, as per your title and OP, there would possibly be no contract implied. The fact that you have now clarified that you are a buyer indicates that there is probably contract law involved which may or may not help your case.
Bring - brought
Buy - bought

If you feel that way, why post this (below) on another thread in this subforum? Double standards surely?
