As above really, first time I have noticed them, they are a lot smaller than the normal ones I have seen.

Only went up recently.
Many motorists seem to have realised they're on all the time, so end up stomping on the brakes when they see them.

Not sure what speed they are triggered at.
The ones on the M25 seemed to be set at or very close to 70 when first installed, presumably to let you know they're there. Not seem them flash in a while though so I guess it's been raised.

SPECS Cameras don't flash - Average speeds

The gantries have GATSO-type cameras on that section. Haven't see any SPECS.

Sorry, as he didn't mention roadworks (which have been there for months and months) I assumed he meant the new cameras (whatever they're called) which do flash.
Not Gantry gatsos but the grey ones on the side of the gantry, permanently on.

i go up and down the motorway every day and i have only just noticed them appear this week as i get on at J12 ..........are they going to be there because of the new link road being put in that connects with the M1..... so they are there in preparation for the roadworks required on the M1 ?

OK I had a good look at them today.

4 yellow cameras (specs average speed) on a yellow support with the specs logo on the arm support.

Just before exit on the South side to Junction 11 there are only 2 set of cameras are they something to do with coming road works?

Also spotted today. They are southbound and northbound; one set just south of Toddington services and the next set just north of J11.

Yep I saw the northbound ones on my home last night, looks to be some road work signs in the area, so I hope they are temporary?

Hadecs, fixed gantry and now specs. They must be desperate for revenue to pay for the roadworks!

There are now specs as you leave the motorway at J10 traveling down towards the Airport on the old J10A section and beyond. I live off J11 so will have a look tomorrow. Can't have been there more than a few days

I hope they are not live as cars were piling past me this morning.

I thought they had to sign post specs cameras, there is nothing up yet.

Urban Myth

Cameras of any sort don’t HAVE to be signposted

(or painted Yellow if it comes to that)

That stretch is already sign posted thanks to the gantry jobbies

So specs are up, speed limit signs up, central reservation lanes cordoned off but nobody working on the road!
Why are they doing this?

Well I found out to my cost that they are set at 60 mph.
So when the gantry is saying 60 the average cameras catch you not the regular ones…

Lesson learned. 😟
