Paper Licence Query - Speeding Ticket
Discussion
Hello,
I received a fixed penalty notice at the end of may for doing 90 on the motorway.
Thames Valley have requested that I make a payment online which I've done, they are also asking me to send off my paper licence and photocard.
This week the paper counterpart was withdrew this week with the DVLA launching an online system.
My question is what do I need to send off to TVP now that there is no paper licence?

contact them ask them if you still need to do anything
if you have an old paper licence you will likely have to surrender it and get it replaced with a photocard, if you already have a photocard, because you've not lived in the same cave for the last 20 years then they should have no reason to ask for it.

I phoned up the number for TV Fixed Penalty Support Unit which was as helpful as a chocolate fireguard (when the call centre was finally open). After pressing multiple options I was then advised to call HM Courts when they are open.
I will phone the courts or try to speak to an actual human at TVP.

Whatever the date of offence, there is no obligation to surrender your counterpart - which is now only of historical value.I received a fixed penalty notice at the end of may for doing 90 on the motorway.

A paper only licence is still valid until 2033 or age 70 (whichever first) - approximately 9 million people still have one. It's only the paper counterpart which was been withdrawn.

Should I only send off my photocard or both parts to be safe?A paper only licence is still valid until 2033 or age 70 (whichever first) - approximately 9 million people still have one. It's only the paper counterpart which was been withdrawn.

There is nothing on the gov.uk site to say that the procedural basis has changed. According to that you still have to hand in your bit of plastic to the FPO - https://www.gov.uk/penalty-points-endorsements/Han...

Why ? The old style paper licence is still valid, they have not been withdrawn.how many people do you know who've had points in the last few years and managed to hold on to thier 17+ year old piece of paper, or several small pieces of paper and tape in many cases.
Still got my old version paper licence with some hand written points on it from 5 years ago, and if you wait 12 days or so I may have to send it off again for some fresh ones thanks to a cunningly placed scamera van, so will be able to confirm if it will be replaced with the new style card.
I don't think it will though.
