Is using screenshots of a movie illegal?
Discussion
Hello,
I have used a screenshot in the past of a movie (the lion king) and done some photoshop work on it to basically promote a product I sell. This has been shared on the Facebook page, having just done another and talking to some mates about their opinions on it before I publish it, they've suggested that I can get done for copyright.
Anyone able to tell me if this is true?
Cheers

What sort of "photoshop work" have you done on it ?
In addition to copyright, you may fall foul of trademark law as well - and Disney are pretty hot on that.
The lion king one replaced Simba with a bottle of chalk In addition to copyright, you may fall foul of trademark law as well - and Disney are pretty hot on that.
Deleted it off now as I don't want any cases against me :/

One thing some people have come to regret - never do anything to upset Disney! They will come after you like a bloodhound in heat, sue the arse off you and sell your kids to Romanian gypsies. They do NOT like people breaking their copyright - IN ANY WAY!
They rarely serve cease and desist notices either, they, from what I have read/been told go straight for the jugular.grumpyscot said:

And if you aren't breaking their copyright, they'll change the law till you are.Forums | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
