Ride on Mower on the Road
Discussion
If I needed to use about 20m of very quiet country road to get my ride-on mower from my driveway to my paddock and back I'm guessing it would need to be road legal/registered etc.
What would be the implications if I was caught? Would it be a thrown book for no insurance, no MoT, no registration, no lights etc?

The chances of even seeing the plod are about 0.00001%. The chances of them actually caring if they do see you are also about 0.00001%. Just crack on and forget about it.What would be the implications if I was caught? Would it be a thrown book for no insurance, no MoT, no registration, no lights etc?

Along similar lines, you can use a fork lift truck for a short distance on public roads.
There could be a similar dispensation for gardening machinery.
Ours (forklift that is) is road registered, insured and type approved. There could be a similar dispensation for gardening machinery.
The law is that if travelling under 1000yrds a fork truck only needs to be registered and insured, beyond 1000yrs and full type approval under construction and use is required in addition to registration and insurance. There is no exemption that allows fork trucks on public roads with out road registration and insurance, the same is true for garden machinery and farm equipment.
Now for only 20 metres I'd be tempted to risk it assuming the area is not built up and you get on with any neighbours nearby.
My mate did 8 miles with me as a hi-vis escort vehicle on a bicycle. Never knew it wasn't kosher. I was there to make things more visible and to look ahead at junctions. Not that we saw anything really. Some cows gave us funny moos though.
Crack on OP, 20 yards is nowt and if you hang well left plod would probably think you're mowing a verge. Go badass on them.
