I've been fishing in a well stocked river for a few years. There are few signs that it is forbidden. Lately I've caught quite a few fish, and the people who control the fishing have seen me take them out.

Question- do the people who control the fishing have a claim against me?

Take them out as in take the fish away to eat them?

Isn't that poaching?

Poaching - or pan frying?

Sorry for the ubiquitous PH "smart" comment

However I suspect more context is required for you to canvass sensible help
What else has happened?

I would imagine if it stocked, then you need the relevant Permit?

I would hazard a guess at the people who monitor this, not wanting to confront you possibly. I have a pal who is a bailiff up here (Ayrshire) The no of utter utter chancers he catches is worrying!

(Unless of course, you are a "Freeman Of The Land - smile )

Well if you don't have a current EA Rod and line licence you will
Be prosecuted for that alone, if you get caught, big fine I believe
Also if somebody has the rights to that particular stretch of river and you don't have permission you will get done for that also,
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to take any fish from rivers in England without prior consent of the EA

If it's a river that's 'stocked' then someone is paying for those fish.

There are EA limits on species and size of wild fish which can be taken. You can only do this with the appropriate license and membership.

Fishing rights generally sit with the landowner and may be let to angling clubs. Free sections can usually be spotted by the beer cans and other rubbish left behind by casual maggot drowners.

Unless you are poaching a chalk stream or a salmon river, clubs don't cost a fortune (£20 is my cheapest club) - join one

SPL is a forum that offers a lot of amazing advice to people who need it and when they are in their times of need this forum is a step above most others.

I hate it when a simpleton thinks its fun to troll this area, we have lost a good few posters that way and in the end the normal person loses out.

Shame that people need to troll a forum that is so helpful to the masses.

Agree entirely, japes should be restricted to the Lounge - one of the reasons new members cannot post in here; perhaps that time needs to be lengthened, though that will only spoil it for the genuine posters. frown

I would like the OP to come back and explain what they are trying to do and come up with an explanation as to why their post seems to be a troll post.

Hell I would like to have a 2/3 strike and your out on this forum...

If you need help then this is the forum to go to with legal issues, troll it once and maybe get away with it, troll twice and you are marked and then it doesnt matter if you desperately need this forum later, you have taken the mick and its a lifetime ban.

It would sort out the real people who need help and those that are bored.

Yep - Totally caught me out.

One thing that it did remind me to do was check the fishing (with Rod & Line) at my holiday destination! (Oh and it is buggered as it is a conservation area, plus point being the snorkelling is superb smile )

I think that the OP may consider his card "marked" though wink

Allergictocheese or 10penceshort as others know him is a legal expert so he should know the answer to his troll question.

So are you saying 10PS has 2 profiles - I thought that was highly frowned upon?
