I travelled up to Glasgow this morning and there were no Safetymobiles on any of the bridges to greet me.
Nothing.
Not One.

Are things really that tight that they cannot afford to sit eating sandwiches and drinking instant coffee out of a flask whilst creaming thousands of pounds a day from motorists trying to get away from Carlisle?

The title you've given the topic seems to be contradicted a little by the comments.

One man makes one journey on one day and doesn't see a camera van.

How can you make the conclusion you have?

Are you quite mad?

I on the other hand drove up the M6 and saw two vans on one day on one journey...so there must be loads of them.

You ar5e.

It's you that's the arse. The M6 is in England.

To the OP: the formation of the new Scottish police force is the worst thing that has happened to policing in Scotland. The majority of traffic policing concentrates on speed enforcement in areas where it serves utterly no purpose.

The standard of driving deteriorates daily. It is at the lowest I have seen in over 40 years driving. There is no effective deterrent because there are almost no traffic cars visible. What little resources the police have are being squandered by stupid, inappropriate policies.

OK, I'll fix it for you.

One man makes one journey on one day and doesn't see a camera van.

How can you make the conclusion you have?

Are you quite mad?

I on the other hand drove up the M74 and saw two vans on one day on one journey...so there must be loads of them.

You ar5e.

Today I've been up to Edinburgh and back, and saw 2 officers conducting speed enforcement in a 30 zone on the A73, 5 traffic cars patrolling the M6 (2 tugging white vans, 1 protecting a family on the hard shoulder), and a speed van on one of the bridges by Shap. I trust this balances out the OP.

I think in hindsight I should have posted this in GG.
I was fully aware that my post was anecdotal, and not Data driven.
I am a bit confused by a couple of comments about my 'contradictions' though.
I'm assuming that they are referring to me pointing out they're raising large sums of money.
But of course it doesn't go to their department.

Came back down this evening. Saw 1 3xx estate going the other way at 28days/£1000 fine speed all lit up.
So I'm happy now.

You're quite right, Scotland doesn't offer Speed Awareness Courses (I thought they did) and thus all the revenue goes to the treasury.
