Folks!

Unsure if was speeding or not, as I drove past the camera right outside my property ! Managed to slam the brakes on but unsure ifs was too late.

No flash visible from behind, however our street has new lights which make it very light even at 10pm (Monday just gone), so unsure if it needed to flash or not.

Anyone confirm if Speedcurb cameras always flash when triggered?

I've not heard of them being described as 'Speedcurb' cameras before, so excuse my ignorance and I may be wrong.

However, looking at the link that you have posted, the units on that website appear to be units that I know as 'Redspeed' digital cameras. There are a lot of them in London.

If it was specifically the model that you have linked to, I can confirm that I have seen those trigger in London on quite a few occasions, and I might suggest that one would be pretty sure that it had triggered - as when I have seen them go off, they are very bright. However, this might just be the ones I have seen!

Hope this helps biggrin

Taken from the website you linked:

Speed Camera website said:
SpeedCurb™ Digital Speed Violation Enforcement System.

The speed of vehicles passing through a monitored section of carriageway is measured by either piezo sensors buried in the road surface, laser or a built in radar module. All data is protected against tampering through use of encryption and data integrity codes embedded in the information. A built in flash module permits operation at night. Operational parameters including speed threshold and active time may be programmed into the unit.
This does not say whether the camera will always flash, but it appears to say that for night use it is designed to flash.

Thanks for the input chaps

The link I provided was to the 'monitron' camera which I believe has been superseded or is now made by speedcurb - either way, as mentioned, they are more and more prevalent in London.

http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/speedcurb.htm

There used to be a gatso in the centre of the road 50ft away from our communal driveway - these were replaced 3-4 months ago by 2 speedcurb cameras, one in either direction.

Im hoping as they're quite new, they've not been commissioned for service as yet, however I can't see anything on google to confirm if they always flash or just when they need to.

The flash is selectable on a Speedcurb camera.

It can be set to flash always, never or just when it is dark. There are several other options too.

If the police want to use it in the dark it will be set to flash.

Thanks for this, guess I need to wait for the 14 day NIP period. As it didn't flash, I'm unsure if it was triggered but didn't need to or wasn't set to flash, or it didn't flash as I wasn't speeding
