It's really just a single "hardship" plea, though, to a single totting-up-past-12...

7 x 6pt MS90, between Jun & Aug '14, all dealt with in one hearing.
That's your 42pts, right there. Clean licence beforehand. Obviously, the medical and other supporting evidence was fairly convincing...

Anybody fancy asking the meerkats what that'd do to a quote?

With that sort of level of offence in such a short period of time is there not an equally powerful argument to keep him off the road under medial advise ?

The man clearly has no regard for other road users, or is not able to recognize when he is breaking limits etc.

You've seen the picture where his passenger has his face out the side window, gurning at the camera, right?

The most recent of that short, sharp spell of offences was 11 months ago... I'm sure the medical evidence would have said that he had recovered from the episode, and was now trying to rebuild his life, etc etc.

It's a bit like Jenson Button being allowed to start the Austrian GP from grid position 42.

He is a construction manager, presumably responsible for a number of vehicles, so he could simply have been guilty of the despicable crime of not keeping track of his employees vehicle usage

My point was, given that the passenger was aiming his antics at the camera, the driver could hardly claim he didn't know what he was doing. His is laughing all the way to his debtors, if his claims to be believed.

I haven't come across any construction managers who are responsible for multiple employees and cars.

I think it's fair to say he ran up these points himself whilst I have been in the toting up position I was at 12 not 42 3 points and potentially 10 offences behind this guy. By the sounds of it his life is a crash cars and it's just a matter of time before he actually has one.

I was under the Impression that the exceptional hardship rule was if that was to others. 42 in 2 months that's mad how many red lights

I would of thought even Balfour Beatty fleet would st a brick when he came on fleet and would probably need to be proposed to the insurers at which point they may say no or expose restrictions. Plus he has a history of a nervous breakdown not exactly making him a star candidate.

Yay. Anybody with a history of mental ill-health is unemployable... One quarter of the population...

I wonder if the judge will have a conscience when the dhead kills someone with his excessive speed? Maybe the BIB could do us all a favour and "target" the guy for any other misdemeanors!

Much harder to do now as insurers are likely to start asking for your driving licence number and permission to check your points tally.

Refuse and that'll be a trigger to load or refuse to quote.

I think there's a reasonably robust statistic that 25% of people will suffer from some aspect of mental illness at some point in their life.

Which of course is a very long way from saying that 25% of people have a "history of mental ill-health"
