Hi All

I posted on pistonheads a while back about my car being involved in an accident. Its been about a month and still nothing has eben sorted while i've been running back and forward with my insurance as they have given me different info each time i have called them and basically made an easy process into something long. Well i spoke to my insurance yesterday and they have told me the other driver has denied being involved in an accident and so i will have to pay my excess if i want them to proceed with investigations. I have also told my insurance the car just behind third party was a police car who took both drivers details and said they will write a report which we can get from the local police station, my insurers have told me it will take a minimum of 2 months to get the report and theres no point going that route as a lot of the time the police havent actually written anything so theres no record of an accident. Im just a bit annoyed that the other driver has denied all knowledge of being in an accident and that it seems my insurace dont really care. anyone else ever been in this situation or have any advice?

Thanks

Vee

I would contact the other party, remind them that it was recorded by the police and ask do they still wish to declare to their insurance that it didn't happen ? Also, surely you have pictures of the incident to help ?

If they still deny it, I'd make a claim and get my car repaired and ensure that the insurance company followed it up with the other party's insurers.

Hi,
It wasn't me driving at the time, it was my dad who doesn't have a camera phone. Originally Third party wanted to go private but after we got an estimate of nearly £800 they just havent got back to us.

Your insurers do want to help. However, you're hindering them. Until there is an actual loss and a financial amount to claim, then they have nothing to pursue the other side for. Get your car fixed and your insurer will get involved, at the moment they've suffered no loss.
