This will not go well...

I'll say it.....just hold your hands up, pay the thing and get on with your life...they will take it further (what precedent would it set if they didn't follow up with court?) and you may end up sharing a cell with big bubba if you try to lie your way out of it...

hey guys i have recived a letter in saying i was speeding now it was Scotland so unsure if its the same procedures as England but a mate of mine told me to ignore all letters and you may get away with it. as the reason being that it will just overcrowd courts just for a small fine etc.

is this a bright idea surely they would take it to court?

letter was not recorded so it could of got lost in the post (wink wink)

Anyone been in this situation
Thanks
Although to be fair, the fact that it wasn't sent signed for means that if it had got lost in the postal system you'd know nothing about it yet and could therefore not do anything about it.

Let us know how it goes. hehe . whistle

Unless your mate is called Dave Procurator Fiscal, his advice is worth exactly what it cost.

I'm sure your mate's right. They'll forget all about it and probably already regret wasting the stamp.

Scotland? Different country innit, just ignore it. They'll soon forget about it after a few cheeky Irn-Brus.

NB Don't just ignore it.

Oh I don't know. I'm sure there are at least two regular'ish' posters here that claim they put every single S172 NIP they receive straight in the bin and have yet to hear anything more on any of them.
Of course if you believe them or think of them as the keyboard warriors they probably are - well that is of course your choice.

Some schools have already broken up for the summer, but only private schools, and if the OP is at a private school, his parents should be having a very serious word with his English teacher about value for money.

If, by any chance, the OP possesses a driving licence and a car, and has been speeding, he should pay up. It's just a few quid and a few points, and there are no crafty get outs.

If thousands of people received and then ignored the letters, I'm sure the repercussions would be very serious for them.

If however, they never *cough* received any letter in their post *ahem* then I reckon your mate could be onto something here.

Worst case, after wink not receiving wink a couple more NIP letters, you get a court summons, surely you could just say it's the first you've heard of it and admit it and agree to take the originally offered fine and points. You'd be no worse off than if you'd buckled at the first letter.

If enough people did this, it would bring the system crashing to it's knees.

Keep us informed... rolleyes

Probably not best to make a thread like this and have your name on your profile.

This thread may be the harbinger of many yet to come between now and early September. Brace for impact! Whether the school summer holidays are long or short, I think that in here they are going to seem looooooooong.

Yeah, delete the original post. That'll work. Not like it's been quoted in the thread already or anything.
