Wonder if anyone has any suggestions here.

A pal and I are off on a jaunt to the Nurburgring in a few weeks in his M5. Track insurance is completely seperate and for clarity I'm not talking about that, but ideally we'll be sharing the driving over there, and hence we've tried to add me as a temporary driver to his policy so I'm covered fully rather than 3rd party through my own policy.

His insurance however, won't cover me due to age bizarrely. (29 y/o male, clean licence 11 years, 0 points, 1 non fault claim).

Are there any other options I can explore?

Have you asked your own insurer to extend your fully comp/euro policy to include his car?

Yeah, they won't cover me on it as I'm not the registered owner of the vehicle, annoyingly.

They have legal minimum EU cover as standard and can offer comprehensive cover in EU countries in some cases. Worth running a quote to see.

Double check your 'Driving other cars' wording.

Most insurers exclude the use of this abroad - sorry to be the bearer of bad news - good luck with your search!
